Caiden's Hope Charity Auction Event July 28

Southwest Airlines announced today that they are donating two airline tickets to fly to any Southwest Airlines destination to the First Annual Caiden's Hope Silent Auction Event.

Where will you fly?  Boston, Seattle, Chicago, West Palm Beach? The choice is yours!

The First Annual Caiden's Hope Silent Auction Event is scheduled for July 28, 2012 and is being hosted by the Spaghetti Company in Ventura, California.

Guests at the event will also have the opportunity to bid on a designer handbag donated by Lauren Flury Handbags, two different Harley-Davidson scale replicas donated by Power Sport Models and a host of other items donated by Ventura, California merchants. 

Additional merchandise will be raffled off during the event including a $50.00 Shell Gas card.

Everyone is invited to the event which opens at 11:00am.  

Guests must provide a flyer which can be printed at www.caidenshope.org to their server.

Caiden is standing!  This week Caiden has started standing by himself.  Just when we think he will start crawling, he chooses to stand instead.  God is blessing us.

Caiden's audiology appointment was pretty uneventful.  He didn't like Dr. White putting his hearing aides in just like we expected, and took them right back out in less than 1 second.  He will sometimes leave them in depending on how distracted he is.  Not today!  And he was mad at her.  She could tell right away that there was NO WAY that he was going to tolerate a hearing test.  So I suggested that she do the hearing test the next time that he goes to the O.R.  She did that a long time ago and that is the ONLY way she is going to get it done.  She agreed and said that she will e-mail ENT (ears, nose, throat) who we see next week and let her know what she wants to do. 

Other than that she checked to see that his hearing aides are still a good fit, cleaned them, and put new batteries in.

Catching Up On His Reading

Caiden is hanging out with his grandma and grandpa for a few days.  He's feeling pretty much back to normal, well, maybe except for his schedule.  It is 3:00 a.m. and he is wide awake catching up on his reading.

Home From Surgery!

Caiden is home from surgery.  The doctor put new tubes in his ears, and re-stretched his airways.  He was groggy and grumpy the day after, but who could blame him.  Now he gets ear drops, and a preventive medication for infection which he also isn't thrilled about.  He has an appointment for audiology at UCLA in 4 weeks, and one for ears, nose, and throat in 6 weeks.

O.R. appointment

Please be in prayer as Caiden goes back to UCLA to the O.R. for another airway stretching tomorrow morning.  (Tuesday)  He checks in at 7:30 a.m.

Surgery Clearance

Caiden went to the Dr. for his surgery clearance for March 20th.  He was sneezing and had a fever over the weekend so we didn't know if he would be cleared, but he no longer has a fever and the doctor says his lungs are clear.  Yay!  Caiden likes Dr. Russell, and Dr. Russell likes Caiden.  Caiden doesn't let anyone else look in his ears or anywhere else for that matter, without a fuss.  But Dr. Russell can check Caiden over and he doesn't even mind.  I appreciate Dr. Russell SO much because he is always so positive.  Be thinking of Caiden and his family on the 20th when he goes back to UCLA to have his airways stretched...again.  We will be playing tag-team down there.

Bakersfield California Family Needs Assistance

Caiden's Hope is assisting a Bakersfield, California family tonight with hotel arrangements near the Mattel Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.  Hospital social Services says 4 day old Daniel has a host of issues including cardiac distress.  

Thanks to our supporters, the Gomez family is staying in a hotel and not sleeping on the hospital room floor or having to drive back to Bakersfield.  

Welcome 2012

Caiden's Hope ended 2011 by helping a total of 16 families and contributed $5,100.75 to help those families reduce the stress that having a child in the NICU can bring.  We look forward to helping even more families in 2012.

We are hoping that in 2012 we can find a national spokesperson to assist us in bringing our message to the entire United States, that we find an advertising agency that will help us spread the word to radio, television, newspaper and internet outlets and that by spreading the word we reach more hospitals in other parts of the country and assist those families as well.
